The annual flagship conference of the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) – the International Conference on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (ICDRI) brings together Member Countries, organizations, institutions, and infrastructure actors to strengthen the global discourse on disaster and climate resilient infrastructure.
In 2023, the international conference was organized on 4-5 April 2023 in New Delhi, India, with a focus on demonstrable solutions to realize resilience of infrastructure. The conference provided a global platform for building partnerships, sharing knowledge, and fostering complementarity on DRI solutions.
Going forward, the Coalition aims to deepen its presence and involvement across different regions. To build a national, regional, and global constituency committed to climate and disaster resilient infrastructure, the Coalition proposes to organize regional conferences. These conferences will focus on emerging regional priorities for DRI and showcase local innovations and solutions.
The regional conferences will support CDRI’s Work Plan Strategic Outcome on building ‘a strong Coalition that has the membership, resources, and global leadership to drive global, national, regional and local DRI action’. To this end, CDRI is organizing the first regional conference in Washington D.C. on 30 October 2023 in partnership with the US Government. The theme of the conference is ‘Partnering for people-centered and future-ready disaster resilient infrastructure’.
ICDRI 2023 – Americas will convene countries, organizations, and institutions from the region to deliberate on the opportunities for collective action across sectors and stakeholders. The aim would be to understand the present status and future needs of infrastructure resilience in the region, leading to identification of the sectoral priorities for intervention. In addition, the discussions will also enable peerto-peer exchange and knowledge sharing on good practices and create opportunities for replication and scale up of existing solutions. The conference is expected to provide direction to a prospective plan of action to initiate joint collaborative efforts on disaster and climate resilient infrastructure transition in the Americas
